It’s 2019! Feeling grateful for a warm office and a mug of coffee right now! Easing our way back into the swing of things and already have a lengthy to-do list.
Both our advocates are taken up with court proceedings for the next week, which seems to be the way things go in the month of January. Our next official re-group feels like a long way off. Despite this, we are all feeling positive about a new year and a new start- reflecting on things that have not worked out, and celebrating things that have!
Our parent consultation group are meeting next Wednesday, and Elly will be going armed with leaflets from the Family Group Conference Service for the parents to offer their ideas about how they can be made more accessible. Family Group Conferences are a really effective way of getting families together to discuss information and concerns openly and honestly, as well as to talk about how positive changes can be made. We are hoping to work more closely with the FGC service, to ensure that our support can be put in place at the earliest possible stage. We are hoping to offer our advice about how to work within Good Practice Guidelines, to give parents with a learning disability as many opportunities to positively engage with FGCs.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, from us at the Plymouth Parent Advocacy Project!
